Planet of the Apes Fortress

July 14, 2009

Here’s a Mego Planet of the Apes Fortress that sold on July 11, 2009 for $585.17.   The Fortress (with box) also came with 2 carded Planet 0f the Apes action figures (Dr Zaius and Astronaut).

POTF Anakin Skywalker

July 13, 2009

Here’s a high end Star Wars POTF (Power of the Force) Anakin.  On June 21, 2009 it sold for $1,065 on eBay.  I’ve never understood why this line is highly collected.  It was basically Kenner’s final attempt at trying to milk the last few cents out of the Star Wars trilogy after the first three movies came out.  These figures were manufactured well into 1985.  That being said, I wouldn’t mind owning this card. ;)

Captain America

July 12, 2009

I’ve always wanted a 1979 Mego Captain America.  Here’s one that sold on eBay on July 1, 2009 for $637.99.  This is a beautiful card with red vibrant colors.  It’s in great shape but has two big Toys R Us price tags.  Some collectors like the original price tag on their collectibles but prefer cards without stickers.

Mego Batgirl

July 11, 2009

Pin Pin Toys were the distributor of Mego toy lines in France in the 1970′s.  Here are two Pin Pin Batgirls that I’ve seen pop up on eBay over the last few months.  Both auctions had a reserve which was never met.  Here’s a third Batgirl which is an American Mego.  Although some people specialize in foreign Megos, I prefer American cards.  The third Batgirl sold on July 4, 2009 for a reasonable $209.

Blue Haired Frankenstein

21-Back Boba Fett

July 9, 2009

Why take the time buy a bunch of Star Wars action figures you don’t really want, cut out the proof of purchase stamp and send it in for a free Boba Fett?  Just wait 30 years and buy one on eBay for $3,200.00.  That’s what some one did on June 25, 2009.

Double Telescoping Darth Vader

July 8, 2009

On June 30, 2009 this Double Telescoping Darth Vader sold for a whopping $3,800 on eBay.  What makes this loose Vader rare is the light saber.  It seems only a small number of the originals came with a double telescoping light saber until Kenner decided to scrap it for the more economically manufactured single telescoping saber.  These light sabers were also packaged on early Lukes and Ben Kanobis.  It is said that most went into the early bird kits however some made it into early carded figures.  There are said to be only a few know carded Vader examples containing this variation.

Palitoy Aliens

July 7, 2009

I recently saw these on the UK eBay.  It’s interesting to note that they did not sell however I do not think they were overpriced.  Cheron as well as Gorn were offered for $1232.  However The Keeper was offered for $821.  I will say that these Palitoy cards are beautiful!

Flintstones Playset

July 6, 2009

On June 29, 2009 this rare Flintstones playset sold on eBay for a best offer price of $1600.00 (the asking price was $2500).  Mego produced The playset for a JC Penney Exclusive, available in the Company’s catalog and at some other larger store departments in 1977.  The set appears to be in mint condition and never played with.

Spiderman Variants

July 4, 2009

Variants never seem to amaze me.  Here’s two early Mego Spiderman variations that sold recently on eBay.  The first is the ‘DIAMOND CIRCLE SUIT’ Spiderman.  The second is the ’BROKEN CIRCLE SUIT’ Spiderman.  Both variations pertain to the spider emblam on the suit.  The first sold for $2,500 while the second sold for $2325 on June 2, 2009.
